27th August 2012
Windsurfing: The Dip-Felixstowe Wind Direction: s Wind Stength: 15/20 Surf / Sea State: big Air Temperature: 20 Sea Temperature: 16 Weather: sunny to start then cloudy Max Speed: 27.44 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 32.37 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
What a month August has been !!! my best month so far for sessions :) Back
to The Dip today so after breakfast with Mag and the Hurrells rigged my big
freeride kit in the sunshine and onshore breeze, in the beginning 7.5 was
abit big but because you could sail along the waves in a big sea and I was
beating and broad reaching it was fine. After a few runs along kite beach I
headed down the coast beating just past the peir, had a quick rest put the
boom higher and released the outhaul and set off really really broad back
:) I seemed way underpowered but managed a 24 kt n/mile so must have been
going okay !!! I landed on the shingle bar in the Deben rivermouth to watch
the kiters and then had some runs aross Bawdsey Bay where I got my months
top speed of 27kts - top fast in flat water terms but not bad for
Felixstowe :) It was then back ashore for a quick lunch - Mag and Linda
were still chatting in the van and out again to enjoy the waves, sailing
across the bumpy/wild rivermouth loads of times :) , I even sailed into the
river in search of flat water but in this direction the runs are very short
:( The wind had eased now and so I called it aday and for a change was one
of the first to leave !!! Again the kiters outnumbered us poor old
windsurfers about 3 to 1 :( Another top day !!!
